Gen.G Esports secured a 2-0 sweep against DN Super in the first round of the 2026 LoL Champions Korea (LCK) regular season, held at LoL PARK in Jongno on the 23rd. Jung 'Chovy' Ji-hun was named Player of the Match (POM) for his significant contributions to the team's victory, playing Azir in Game 1 and Akali in Game 2.
The following is the full text of the POM interview with Jung 'Chovy' Ji-hun.

Q. You secured a clean 2-0 victory today. How do you feel.
'Chovy' = Even though we won 2-0, the games weren't actually that easy. I think we need to go back and review what exactly went wrong.
Q. You showed great versatility on Azir in Game 1. Could you explain the situation during the dragon teamfight where you were right in the middle of the enemy lines?
'Chovy' = The opponent didn't have any instant crowd control, and my positioning was very good. I decided that if I didn't get pushed out easily, it would make things very difficult for them, so I held my ground. Honestly, I felt that was the only right move to make in that spot, so I'm quite calm about it.
Q. The opponent's counterattack was fierce afterward. Was that difficult to deal with?
'Chovy' = They kept trying to fight back, and there were moments where we got pushed back a bit, which made me wonder if it was a situation that shouldn't have been punishable. We need to check if that was unavoidable or if we made a mistake.
Q. The turning point in Game 1 was Baron. In the first instance, Gen.G had an accident while taking it, and in the second, the opponent lost after trying to take it.
'Chovy' = Personally, I think the team that initiates Baron first has the advantage because it forces the opponent to make a choice, provided the team coordination is good. I don't think we showed that today.
Q. You picked Akali in Game 2 after seeing Annie. How do you view the Akali-Annie matchup?
'Chovy' = If Annie and Akali meet in a side lane, Akali has such a massive advantage that there's really no answer for Annie. Also, I think in the current mid-lane meta, it's fine to fall a bit behind in CS if you can leverage your team composition's strengths.
Q. In fact, rather than focusing on the lane today, you roamed and helped with objectives, finding a lot of value elsewhere.
'Chovy' = That ties into what I just said. I think it's become more important for mid-laners to annoy their opponents than to just focus on farming CS. I paid a lot of attention to that during today's games.
Q. You had a tough start to the season with three losses. How is the team communicating through this?
'Chovy' = Losing early in the regular season is something that can happen. The important thing is whether these losses will continue or if we can get our performance back on track. I think we've accumulated losses because of many shortcomings, and our job now is to fix those issues.
Q. Your next opponent is Nongshim RedForce, who are also at 4-3. What is your mindset heading into that match?
'Chovy' = I'm preparing with the mindset that we absolutely must win. I believe we need to make sure we elevate our team's performance accordingly.
Q. Lastly, a word for the fans who always support you.
'Chovy' = Thank you for always supporting us. I know it's not familiar for fans to see us lose so much early in the season, but I'll make sure to show you plenty of wins later on.
