FlyQuest has promoted Assistant Coach Anand "Curry" Agarwal to Head Coach ahead of the 2020 LCS season, and according to a report by ESPN Esports' Jacob Wolf, the LCS organization is set to sign Tristan "PowerOfEvil" Schrage as its starting Mid Laner.
Curry was signed by FlyQuest to coach FlyQuest Academy for 2019, but was promoted to Assistant Coach of the LCS roster by summer with Daniel "Mango" Morrisette taking over coaching duties for FLYA. As Head Coach, Curry will be stepping into the shoes of Gabriel "Invert" Zoltan-Johan, who climbed through the FlyQuest organization in a nearly identical tragectory to Curry before becoming a free agent at the conclusion of the 2019 season.
FlyQuest recently confirmed another report by Wolf by announcing Lee "IgNar" Dong-geun as its new Support. However, the organization has yet to confirm or deny Wolf's report of signing PowerOfEvil to the Mid Lane.
IgNar has spent the majority of his professional career in Europe, most recently with FC Schalke 04 for the 2019 LEC Season. However, IgNar was a teammate of PowerOfEvil's on Misfits in 2017. The roster secured the #2 seed for the 2017 EU LCS after a surprising summer Finals run, defeated Group D 1st seed TSM in a tie-breaker to get to the Knockout Stage at Worlds, and took SK Telecom T1 to a five game epic series before going down in Quarterfinals.
PowerOfEvil, who played for Counter Logic Gaming in the 2019 LCS, would be an individual upgrade over Eugene "Pobelter" Park, and IgNar is a step up from Kim "Wadid" Bae-in as well. The team could form quite the fearsome phalanx around veteran Bot Laner Jason "Wildturtle" Tran and young Top Laner Omran "V1per" Shoura in coordination with one of the league's finest Junglers in Lucas "Santorin" Larsen.
In its last split, FlyQuest missed playoffs last summer after finishing 9th, and while it managed to qualify for the 2019 LCS Regional Final on points, it found itself eliminated in the first gauntlet round at the hands of Clutch Gaming. However, if POE is to be signed by FlyQuest and is able to rekindle his Misfits synergy with IgNar, it might be the 1-2 punch FlyQuest needs to place itself back in the top 4 standing it held last spring.
