Over the past week, the Twitch viewership varied according to major events.
According to the Inven Global Esports Data Lab, World of Warcraft viewership was hot all week, apparently with the hype from the classic server launch. From the 5th, WoW was pulled back by CS:GO. The drop wasn't severe though, as they maintained 200K+ viewers to the end of the week and rose back to the top.
As the quarterfinals of StarLadder Berlin CS: GO Major started, CS: GO viewership skyrocketed to the top, hitting and maintaining 450K+ peak concurrent viewers afterward. CS: GO peaked att of 661K viewers on the 8th, the day of the grand final where Astralis took home the championship.
On the 4th, Special Events stream hit rank 2. This was the day of Nintendo Direct broadcast. The biggest announcement in the was Overwatch coming to Nintendo Switch. Although the average viewership wasn't as high with about 10K, the peak concurrent viewers hit nearly 200K.
The LEC finals between G2 Esports and Fnatic was held on the 8th, along with the LCS gauntlet finals between TSM and Clutch Gaming. This day, League of Legends peaked at 706K peak concurrent viewers on Twitch, topping CS: GO, proving that LoL is still the most popular esport and that the hype towards the upcoming World Championship is high.
