The much anticipated inaugural Panda Global Rankings for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has finally come out out. Every event since Genesis 6 has been building to this. Over 80 tournaments culminated in these very rankings. There four classifications for tournaments that officially counted towards the PGRU: C-tier, B-tier, A-tier, and S-tier.
North America had the most high ranked tournaments, with multiple S-tier and A-tier tournaments while other regions had a few. We saw players traveling all over the world to make sure they attended enough to have a shot at making the rankings. We saw players get picked up with success in the newest Super Smash Bros. title.
A few players get recognized for nearly making the top 50 players in the world. They are part of “Area 51” just barely outside of the top 50, and knocking on the door to those coveted 50 spots. Zack “ZD” Darby, Leon “Sonido” Green, Laith “SDX” Hamdan, Alan “Gen” Soriano, Brett “8BitMan” Espositom are the players who compromise this placement this season. - MVD
- Rivers (Shoyo James)
- Raito
These players have proven to have the in game results needed. More importantly they offer any team/organization/sponsor the ability to add to their brand and marketing and be an attractive asset. They have strong social media presences and ability to influence past their in game results. Expect to see these three picked up relatively quickly. Also don’t be surprised to see others change from smaller, newer organizations to more established bigger ones who will pay more.
