For the first time in franchise history, OpTic Gaming has qualified for the LCS post-season. Entering the final day of the 2019 LCS Summer Split in a 3-way tie for 5th place with a record of 8-9, OpTic Gaming played three games in a single day to qualify for hhe 2019 LCS Summer Playoffs as the 6th seed.

OpTic Gaming began the Summer Split on a tear, starting off 4-0 and remaining amongst the top of the standings for the majority of the season. However, some unexpected losses , as well as continued improvement from Clutch Gaming and 100 Thieves, found OpTic in far less secure standing ahead of playoffs than one may have thought from the team's meteoric start.

OpTic Gaming opened the final day of the 2019 LCS Summer Split with a loss to Cloud9, finishing with an 8-10 record. Because OpTic lost to C9, a 7-10 100 Thieves had a chance to save themselves by defeating Counter Logic Gaming, who was sitting in 2nd place at 12-5. 

100 Thieves outlasted CLG in a miraculous victory at the end of one of the longest games of the split, which secured 1st place for Team Liquid. More importantly to OpTic however, 100 Thieves moved to 8-10 and remained in the playoff picture. Clutch Gaming defeated Golden Guardians to move to 9-9 and secure the 5th playoff seed, leaving 100 Thieves, OpTic Gaming, and Golden Guardians to fight over the last seed in the bracket.

Golden Guardians owned a 2-0 head-to-head record against 100 Thieves this summer, and with OpTic Gaming finishing the season 1-1 against both squads, the latter pair of teams hit the rift immediately after the final game of the Summer Split. OpTic Gaming secured its first win of the day and sent 100 Thieves home for the year.

After Cloud9 beat CLG in a tie-breaker to decide the 2nd place seed and its Quarterfinals bye, OpTic and Golden Guardians' entire season would rely on a single game. The winner would qualify for the 2019 LCS Summer Playoffs as the 6th seed and face 3rd seed Counter Logic Gaming in the Quarterfinals. The loser, who would not possess enough circuit points to qualify for the 2019 NA Regional Qualifier, would join 100 Thieves and Echo Fox in the earliest phase of the off-season.

OpTic Gaming's qualifying victory over Golden Guardians was a microcosm of the team's improvements throughout the summer. Each player showcased their respective contributions to OpTic's playoff identity and how the team has sharpened those skills across the recent months.

Mid Laner Lee "Crown" Min-ho continued his impressive control of the map with global ultimates, this time on Taliyah. Jungler and MVP candidate William "Meteos" Hartman finished the game with a perfect score of 2/0/10 on Jarvan IV. 

However, it wasn't just the Greenwall's 1-2 punch that had an impact. Bot Laner Noh "Arrow" Dong-hyeon's steady hand stabilized the southern reaches of Summoner's Rift on Sivir, allowing Terry "Big" Chuong to play to his strength of playmaking opportunities on Bard. OpTic Gaming's composition set everything perfectly for Top Laner Niship "Dhokla" Doshi to carry the game on Aatrox, which was executed in great fashion as OpTic rolled through the GGS base to the nexus.

As the 6th seed in the 2019 LCS Summer Playoffs, OpTic Gaming will face off against 3rd seed Counter Logic Gaming in a best-of-five Quarterfinal series on Sunday, August 11th at 12:00pm PDT.
