Epic Games showed a glimpse of what Fortnite Season 10 has in store for the playerbase during the 2019 Fortnite World Cup, and again, in a tweet from the official Fortnite twitter account the next morning.
Epic Games first teased Season 10 on Sunday, July 28, during the broadcast of the 2019 Fortnite World Cup Solo Finals. A picture of Dusty Depot, an original portion of the Fortnite map previously destroyed by a meteor at the end of Season 3. Shortly after the reveal at the World Cup, the official Fortnite account tweeted the image with the words "Think Back.", as well as the start date for Fortnite Season 10. Epic Game to be hinting at a return to the Fortnite map for Dusty Depot.
The second teaser, released on the morning of Monday, July 29, features a robotic looking mech suit with the same thematic elements as the Dusty Depot in the background. However, the visual was accompanied by the words "Look Forward.", as well as the Season 10 start date.
While it may be easy to call a return of Dusty Depot long overdue, and point towards Season 9's cinematic live event FINAL SHOWDOWN as a potential link to the robotic silhouette in the second teaser, a closer look at the details of each teaser and the similar wording of each tweet suggest that there is a relation between the two teasers.
At the end of season 3, Dusty Depot was destroyed by a meteor and became Dusty Divot. The Visitor, a assumed-to-be time traveler and secret Fortnite skin, was inside the meteor. The Visitor was also the catalyst of the cinematic event at the end of season 4, which included a rocket launch that frayed the fabric of time and created the crack in the sky of the Fortnite map.
How does this connect? For starters, the Visitor's shoulderplate insignia is shown to the right of the robotic silhouette in the second teaser.
In addition, if both Dusty Divot and the Visitor are being brought back into the Fortnite fold, this could mean that a rip in space-time may allow players to revisit the fully restored Dusty Depot from the past, hence the "Think Back." message in the first teaser's accompanying tweet. It's unknown whether the mech is indicative of the Visitor's return, or something that shares a background with the Visitor, as the symbol to the mech's left has not been seen before.
Fortnite Season 10 kick off on August 1st, 2019. We will continue updating this story as more details — or teasers — are revealed.
