On May 1st, Fnatic made an announcement on their homepage that they have raised $19 Million through Series A Funding.
The fund that Fnatic has raised will be used to, "aid in Fnatic's global expansion into Asia and North America, strengthen its involvement in tier-one leagues including the League of Legends European Championship, and continue to partner with the most forward-thinking global brands and launch new product categories of its Fnatic Gear gaming peripherals including an exciting new audio line."
Along with the investment, Fnatic also announced that they have made changes to the leadership team.
To begin, Fnatic's founder, Sam Matthews, returned to the CEO position. Former CEO, Wouter Sleijffers stepped down after four years of helping and leading Fnatic to become the team that it is today. In addition, former Mercedes AMG F1 CEO, Nick Fry was named Fnatic's chairman, and the founder of Affectv, Glen Calvert was appointed COO.
The newly appointed CEO, Matthews, stated, "This is a pivotal moment in the evolution of Fnatic. I am incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved over the past 15 years and now is the time to build on this strong foundation to realize our vision of being the leading global esports brand."
