Roughly months after Wizards of the Coast announced their $10 million commitment to Magic: The Gathering esports, we get a glimpse at what's to come. From March 28th until the 31st, a total of 64 players will fight for the lion's share of a 1 million dollar prize pool at PAX East.
The vast majority of the participants have already been revealed. 32 of the players are invited because of their achievements in the Magic Pro League, amongst whom are Ben "BenS" Stark, Javies "Thalai" Dominguez and Shahar "Shahar" Shenhar. Additionally, 24 players are invited because of their legendary status within the Magic community, or because of their status in other card games. Such names include Thijs "ThijsNL" Molendijk, Connagh "Merchant" Hawkings and Janne "Savjz" Mikkonen.
With 56 spots filled, there is a sliver of hope for uninvited pros and aspiring competitors. The final eight slots are dedicated to the top players of Magic: The Gathering Arena's ranked ladder - the eight top players of February will directly be invited to participate.

Storyteller by heart. If something is competitive, I am interested in it.
