Premiere competitive fighting game DragonBall FighterZ has crowned a new king. Ryota "Kazunoko" Inoue is the inaugural DBFZ World Tour champion. His win at the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour finals at Red Bull Final Summoning all but cemented his dominance over the game and it's current meta.

Kazunoko came into the event as one of the favorites along with Echo Fox's Dominique "SonicFox" McLean. The pride of GODSGARDEN spent the majority of the DBFZ World Tour in dominant form. Kazunoko qualified at the very first stop of the tour and captured the One Star Dragon Ball through winning CEO 2018 in Daytona, Florida. 

Kazunoko didn't stop there, though. The 30 year-old tore through the second half of the tour, securing the Five, Six, and Seven Star Dragon-Balls ahead of the Final Summoning in Los Angeles. 
Because of Kazunoko's dominance, only SonicFox, CYCLOPS Athlete Gaming's Goichi "GO1" Kishida, and NRG Esports' HookGangGod were the only other competitors to secure a qualifying seed for the Final Summoning in securing the Two Star, Three Star, and Four Star Dragon Balls, respectively.

Kazunoko narrowly edged out GO1 in Winners Finals.  Fellow CAG members Ryo "Dogura" Nozaki and Shoji "Fenritti" Sho fought it out in Losers. Fenritti triumphed, and took down GO1 3-1 in Losers Finals to challenge Kazunoko in the Grand Finals. Kazunoko gave Fenritti a taste of his own medicine and sat him down 3-1, winning the tournament without dropping a match.

Kazunoko's quick, aggressive style has been the hallmark of the meta in recent months. His  Gotenks/Gohan/Yamcha team has won him the last three Dragon Balls, and has only gotten stronger since the most recent patch. Now that Kazunoko has completed his run by winning the Final Summoning, look for other pros to re-think their approach to team construction in a competitive setting.
