As of today, Overwatch has gotten into the holiday spirit with the ‘Overwatch's Winter Wonderland’ event and a whole new brawl: ‘Mei’s Snowball Offensive’. Along with the holiday event, changes made in PTR such as the rework of Symmetra and Sombra’s famous catchphrase - “Boop!” - also went live.
During the ‘Winter Wonderland’ event, players will be able to collect Winter Loot Boxes until January 2nd; these loot boxes will feature items from the 2016 Winter Wonderland collection. Also, maps will be getting spruced up for the holidays with blankets of snow and festive decorations.
A new brawl will be available to players during this event - Mei’s Snowball Offensive. In this brawl, Mei’s weapon has been replaced with a snowball launcher that allows her to fire a single snowball before gathering snow from the ground. Her ultimate has also been replaced with a semi-automatic snowball launcher that is sure to terrorize the opposing side.
Meanwhile, the reworked Symmetra will be implemented on the live server without being adjusted. Now she will be able to choose between a teleporter and a shield generator when her ultimate is ready.
Not only that, her existing kit has been made stronger, with her primary firing range increased from 5 meters to 7 meters. She will also now be able to stock up to 6 sentries at once, allowing her to place all 6 sentries rapidly when fully stocked. If her run in the Public Test Region was any indication, she is sure to see more playtime now.
