For the 1st round of the 2018 Worlds Korea Regional Qualifiers, Park “Untara” Ui-jin, who has only performed a few times for the 2018 LCK Spring/Summer split, will be the starting top laner for SK Telecom T1.
While Untara was working to get a spot in the starting lineup, Park “Thal” Kwon-hyuk performed for SKT in the top lane. However, SKT finished in 7th place this Summer, which was one of the worst splits in the history of the team; Thal seemed to be shaky during the split as well. This seems to be the reason why Untara is stepping up for the team for what could be one of SKT’s most important series of 2018.
Despite the fact that Untara didn’t get a lot of chances to perform this year, he was well-known for his stable laning ability throughout his career. This might be a big advantage for SKT since the team currently lacks stability in laning phase. Although people pointed out his underperformance in teamfights, kkOma still decided to give Untara a chance. Will he be able to meet the fans’ and his head coach’s expectations?
