Doublelift finally won the MVP award.
On the 8th of September, the 2018 NA LCS Summer Split MVP winner was announced. Just before the 3rd place match between 100 Thieves and TSM, Yiliang Peter “Doublelift” Peng was announced as the MVP of the split. He edged out 100 Thieves top laner Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho by 16 points for the award.
With confidence, Doublelift expressed how he felt to be the Most Valuable Player of the split. Being asked if he thinks if he’s the best player in the NA, Doublelift’s answer was simple. “Yeah, of course.” The confident ADC has been in the NA LCS for a long time, yet it was his first MVP award. Although he won multiple championships, there was always something missing. “Every year, I've been feeling like 'maybe this is the year I'll get MVP'.” and that year finally arrived.
Over the season, Doublelift was one of the main reasons Team Liquid made it to the finals. There were some early season struggles with the mage bot lane, but it didn’t get in the way of Team Liquid finishing in first place. Dominating the lane in the semifinals against 100 Thieves, Doublelift was the person that brought Team Liquid to Oakland.
Doublelift has won the championship in three different teams; Counter Logic Gaming, TSM, and Team Liquid. If he wins against Cloud9 tomorrow, it will be his third straight championship with two different teams. The grand finals for the 2018 NA LCS Summer Split between Team Liquid and Cloud9 will be on tomorrow at 2:00 PM (PST) at Oracle Arena, Oakland.
