According to its latest press release, the Korea e-Sports Association's "Certified eSports PC Clubs" project has officially launched. The project was developed in accordance with the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to discover and support PC Bangs that could qualify as general sports facilities. 49 PC Bangs across the nation were selected by a KeSPA committee by comprehensive evaluation, inspection, and interviewing.
A commemorative ceremony for the project's launch was held at Seoul's Najin Electronic World building on October 15th, with KeSPA chairman Byung-Hyun Jeon and selected PC Bang owners in attendance. Jeon handed over the project's official plaques to the owners, congratulating them for their inclusion and encouraging them to play a part in promoting grassroots eSports. The Association will also provide business training programs for said owners.
In the future, Certified eSports PC Clubs will play a pivotal role in establishing Korea's amateur scene by serving as a base for eSports enthusiasts and players. At the same time, the Clubs are expected to improve the perception of the PC Bang industry and improve its cultural health.
