Streaming platform AfreecaTV announced its plans today for AfreecaTV Starleague Season 2, Korea’s largest active StarCraft: Brood War tournament. Much hype is being generated in Korea for the event, as all of “TaekBangLeeSsang” – Bisu, Stork, Flash, and Jaedong – are reported to be participating.
ASL Season 2’s offline qualifiers will be held on November 26th-27th in Seoul and Busan, with 24 players advancing to the main tournament. It should be noted that ASL Season 1's four semifinalists - Eyewater, Sharp, Sea, and Last - are being seeded into the Round of 16.
The format of the tournament is as detailed below:
Round of 24: Bo1 double elimination (12 advance)
Round of 16: Bo1 double elimination (8 advance)
Quarterfinals, Semifinals, Grand Finals: Bo5 single elimination
AfreecaTV’s official website indicates that Dan “Artosis” Stemkoski and Nick “Tasteless” Plott will be handling the English commentary. The tournament is scheduled to start on December 4th.
