Remedy Entertainment's revenue more than tripled in the third quarter of 2026, reaching €39.6m on the back of CONTROL Resonant's launch, and the Finnish studio returned to an operating profit.
According to the company's business review for January to September, published on November 3rd, revenue from July to September rose 226% from €12.2m a year earlier. Operating profit (EBIT) came in at €0.6m, compared with a loss of €16.4m in the same quarter of 2025. EBITDA, or earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation, rose to €6.8m from €0.7m.
Game sales and royalties made up €35.3m of the quarter's revenue. The other €4.3m came from development fees for the Max Payne 1&2 remake, which Remedy is developing for Rockstar Games, and the final fee accrual for CONTROL Resonant under its deal with Annapurna Pictures. Only pre-orders and the first seven days of CONTROL Resonant sales fell inside the quarter.
How CONTROL Resonant sold
CONTROL Resonant launched digitally on September 24th and passed one million copies sold on October 15th, the day of its physical release. Remedy called it the fastest-selling game in its history and its first self-published game at this scale.
"Praised by players and critics alike, it marks a defining milestone for the company," CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon said in the review. He added that the launch was backed by "the largest marketing investment in our history."
The United States accounted for nearly half of all sales on PC and consoles. On PC, Chinese-speaking regions and the United Kingdom came second and third, and Brazil reached the top three by console units. Remedy said close to 50% of players were new to CONTROL, and that 2.4 million wishlists are still outstanding.
What's next for Remedy
Over the first nine months of 2026, Remedy's revenue rose 48.2% to €62.9m, though it still posted an operating loss of €2.3m for the period. The company kept its outlook for the year unchanged, expecting full-year revenue and EBITDA to grow from 2025.
Remedy listed a new self-published project in production readiness, while the Max Payne 1&2 remake for Rockstar Games is in full production. "Sales over the remainder of the year will ultimately define our financial year 2026," Gaudechon said.
