Bandai Namco Entertainment is celebrating ten years of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 with a free update on October 27th and a Final Festival of Universes event that starts on October 30th.

The publisher announced the plans on October 25th and shared them on X (formerly Twitter). According to the announcement, the free 10th Anniversary Update adds new Login Bonus Rewards and Special Costumes. It also brings an update to the Gallery of Time, which players can unlock by buying the 'FUTURE SAGA Chapter 4' downloadable content (DLC).

What the Final Festival of Universes includes

During the event, players can raise their camaraderie level with one of three characters who have joined them on their journey: Trunks, the Supreme Kai of Time or Fu. Doing so unlocks special illustrations. Bandai Namco said hard-to-obtain items will return, and players will earn 25 times more Star Coins than usual to exchange for rewards.

Taking part in the festival can also earn players a new Gi made for the occasion and a commemorative medal. Owning either item unlocks special items in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 once players link their Bandai Namco ID, with the reward depending on which item they hold.

Where Xenoverse 2 fits ahead of Xenoverse 3

Developed by Dimps, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 lets players build their own fighter, explore Conton City and team up with characters from the series to protect the flow of history. It is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch, and its official site points to ten years of DLC packs.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is due in 2027. According to its official site, the sequel is set in AGE 1000 in West City, part of a new future Dragon Ball universe with original characters created by series author Akira Toriyama, and players join the ranks of the Great Saiya Squad. The site adds that Xenoverse 2 players can receive a reward at launch by linking their game account to a Bandai Namco ID and uploading 'Link Data' for transfer to the new game.
