On October 25 (KST), at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas, USA, Gen.G Esports defeated Hanwha Life Esports in Round 2 of the 2026 LoL World Championship Swiss Stage to reach a 2-0 record. It was a match that clearly demonstrated the class of the #1 seed.
Early in the game, Gen.G got off to a strong start as Kim "Canyon" Geon-bu's Qiyana won a Smite battle against Seo "Kanavi" Jin-hyeok's Pantheon, who had invaded the jungle. The bottom duo also picked up First Blood. In response, Hanwha Life Esports cut down Qiyana deep inside the enemy jungle to briefly halt Gen.G's momentum. They then punished Kim "Kiin" Gi-in's Rumble with a top dive and added another kill around the Voidgrubs.
Around the 15-minute mark, however, during a tense vision battle, Alistar charged in first but was rapidly bursted down, followed by Pantheon, allowing Gen.G to score key kills. In the teamfight ahead of the third dragon, Gen.G swept up 4 kills through flawless skill combinations and aggro juggling. Before long, the global gold lead expanded to 5,000.
Hanwha Life Esports still had a counterpunch left. Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyeong's Jhin hit a Deadly Flourish on Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk's Ezreal to set up a kill. Joo "Duro" Min-gyu's Leona was also brought down. However, control remained firmly in Gen.G's hands. The spawn of the Hextech Soul forced a teamfight, where Gen.G scored a decisive victory and secured Baron Nashor.
Armed with the Baron buff, Gen.G widened the gap at an unstoppable pace. Hanwha Life Esports attempted a desperate last stand in front of their inner bottom turret, but the sheer deficit in firepower saw their frontline of Alistar and Choi "Zeus" Woo-je's Ambessa fall far too quickly. After resetting and marching into the enemy base, Gen.G destroyed inhibitors in all lanes and sealed the victory with an Ace.
