H2 Interactive announced that the Korean edition of Edge of Memories will officially launch on PC and PS5 on December 3. Pre-orders for the physical PS5 Deluxe Edition will begin on the 23rd.
Developed by Midgar Studio, Edge of Memories is a fantasy JRPG set on the continent of Avaris, a land facing destruction from plague and Corrosion. Players take on the role of a wanderer with the power to control the plague, standing against a force that corrupts plants, animals, and humans into grotesque abominations. Along their journey, players will meet nomads who moved their homes to escape the Corrosion, as well as a variety of characters, with each quest delivering stories that explore the world's lore and character relationships.
Combat takes place in real time, featuring a system that combines attacks and skills to execute combos. Companions—including a mentor and the shaman prince of a lost tribe—join the journey, and players can customize these allies or utilize their individual skills depending on the situation. The game also includes a feature where the protagonist transforms into a Berserker to attack enemies.
Explorable areas range from a port city with sandy beaches to snow-covered mountain ranges. As the story progresses, previously visited regions change, opening up new paths and locations. Players can traverse the continent riding their feline companion Nekaroo or leverage its agility to explore hard-to-reach areas. The graphics are powered by Unreal Engine 5, featuring an art style inspired by Japanese animation.
The music features contributions from Cédric Menendez, Emi Evans, and Yasunori Mitsuda. Cédric Menendez composed a dynamic soundtrack that adapts to exploration and combat situations, while Emi Evans provided the vocals. The theme song marking the end of the journey was composed by Yasunori Mitsuda.
