KOEI TECMO America and developer Team NINJA have shared the player survey results from the recent Alpha Demo of Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember, along with the changes planned for the full game. The action role-playing game (RPG) is set to launch on March 4th 2027.
According to a release, the Alpha Demo ran from September 16th to 30th and gave players a first look at the open field of Changban, where they joined Liu Bei's army in battles against the pursuing forces of Cao Cao. Players were invited to fill out a survey afterward, and the feedback has now been compiled into a report.
Team NINJA is the Japanese studio behind the Nioh series and the first Wo Long, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Like its predecessor, the sequel is set in China's Three Kingdoms period.
What is changing for launch
Most of the planned changes target combat. Based on survey responses, Team NINJA will make the Insight Skill system less complex and improve how it detects successful use. The Spirit system's balance of gain and loss will be reworked, and Martial Arts and Wizardry Spells will be made stronger.
The release says these changes are meant to allow ‘greater freedom’ in combat and push players toward a more aggressive approach in battle. Optimization is also set to improve, with upgraded graphics and faster loading times. The full report is available on the game's official website.
Release date, platforms and pre-orders
Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember is due out on March 4th 2027 for PlayStation 5 (PS5), Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox on PC and Steam. It will also be on Xbox Game Pass from day one. The game will have Japanese and English voice acting, with text in English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.
Pre-orders are open for the standard edition and a Digital Deluxe Edition. The latter includes the base game, the Season Pass and the Season Pass Bonus: Creator God Armor Set, plus a Digital Artbook, a Digital Mini Soundtrack and the Shitieshou Hat. Physical editions can also be pre-ordered.
Early buyers on any format will receive the Harvest God Armor Set, and anyone who buys a digital version by March 4th 2027 will also get the Creator Goddess Garb set as a pre-order bonus. Neither bonus is included in the Xbox Game Pass version, the release notes.
