The pixel-art world of the 1999 PC original returns to mobile. GAMEDUO has launched pre-registration for 'Elancia Mobile', a mobile reinterpretation of Nexon's classic MMORPG 'Elancia'.

GAMEDUO announced on October 22 that pre-registration for 'Elancia Mobile' has opened. The official launch is set for December 1 at 11:00 AM. The game supports Android, iOS, and PC launchers.

'Elancia Mobile' is the first title to be released through 'NEXON Replay', Nexon's classic IP initiative. 'NEXON Replay' is a project where Nexon opens its legacy IPs to external creators and developers to revive them in new forms. Nexon provides core assets such as original graphic resources, while partner companies handle development and live services. GAMEDUO joined this project to oversee the development, operations, and marketing for 'Elancia'.

The original 'Elancia' is a PC MMORPG launched by Nexon in 1999. It featured no set progression path. Players could equip any weapon, switch to their desired class at will, and freely enjoy fishing, crafting, and guild activities.

'Elancia Mobile' faithfully ports the original pixel graphics alongside classic towns and hunting grounds from the original map, such as Lorencia and Ephiloria. It also retains the original progression structure where leveling up weapon abilities unlocks class advancement corresponding to those weapons. Players customize their characters by combining options for facial features, skin tone, hairstyle, and more. Traveling between continents via inn NPCs, players progress by following main quests and daily refreshed requests.

The biggest change from the original lies in the classes. In the original game, advancing to a new class did not result in a significant difference in playstyle. 'Elancia Mobile' gives each class a unique concept and allows players to learn class-exclusive skills through skill books for use in combat. While maintaining the original class lineup—such as Swordsman, Martial Artist, Archer, and Musician—the game clearly defines the role each class plays in battle.

Cooperative content has also been newly introduced. Party dungeons where players team up to challenge bosses have been added. Guild content such as guild dungeons open at scheduled times, guild research, and guild storage are also featured. Additionally, three types of field bosses for multiple players to tackle together have been included.

Life skills enjoyed by players in the original game also continue. The game supports Smithing, Tailoring, and Alchemy crafting. Players can also enjoy fishing, catching different fish at various fishing spots to collect in fish tanks. Personal shop opening on the field via 'Soya' and direct player-to-player trading are supported as well.

Quality-of-life features tailored for the mobile environment are also included. 'AI Mode', which allows the server to hunt on behalf of the character, continues for up to 24 hours even after closing the game. A power-saving mode that dims the screen to conserve battery is supported as well.

Pre-registration is available starting October 22 via the official pre-registration page, Google Play, and Apple App Store. Adding the KakaoTalk channel allows users to receive release news. From November 27, players will be able to pre-download the game and pre-create their characters. Pre-registration participants will receive limited pre-registration in-game mail rewards after official launch, including a floral outfit set, an early-game growth support set, and 100 baits.

A representative from GAMEDUO stated, "Elancia was a game where the fun came from playing 'your own way' rather than following a predetermined path. While keeping that freedom intact, we added clear distinct personalities to each class and cooperative content so that both players who remember the original and those encountering it for the first time can easily jump in."

Meanwhile, GAMEDUO is a Pangyo-based mobile game developer founded in 2019. It operates titles such as the idle RPG 'Cat Hero' and MMORPG 'Another Dungeon' globally.
