In Azur Promilia, the companions joining the Starbounder's journey are not limited to characters from various races like Beastfolk and Elves. Mysterious creatures known as 'Kibo' can also be encountered all across the world of Promilia—dashing through fields, roaming near watersides, and occasionally soaring through the skies. Ranging from familiar animal-like forms to unique appearances reminiscent of plants or fairies, Kibos possess distinct appearances and habits, serving as another group of inhabitants living in this world.
The Starbounder can form a 'Starlink' with Kibos to recruit them as companions for the adventure. Players can combine a Kibo's abilities with character attributes and roles for use in combat, as well as receive assistance in housing. Because Kibos accompany players in growing crops, crafting equipment and facilities, and developing their homesteads, discovering and nurturing different Kibos becomes another key highlight of the adventure.

Among the land-based Kibos, some resemble familiar animals such as chickens, foxes, and wolves. The prime example is the 'Cabbage Chicken', which has served as a mascot since Azur Promilia was first revealed. Characterized by a crest that resembles green leaves, the Cabbage Chicken is a Wood-attribute Kibo that spins its crest rapidly like a propeller to soar into the sky in moments of danger. It often burrows underground to rest, making it easy to mistake its exposed crest for a cabbage and disturb it.
Meanwhile, Kibos change not only in appearance but also in talents and skills as they grow, so their small form when first met is not the whole story. For instance, the Wood-attribute Kibo 'Sprout Fox' is highly popular among sapient races, adopting an elegant form as it matures through the stages of Woodtail Fox and Crown Fox. 'Flame Moo', which carries a flame on its head, is helpful and even cooks hot pots using its own flame, but possesses a simple and impetuous personality. However, this is merely its juvenile stage; as it grows into Flame Ooh during adolescence and Flame-Horned Rhino in adulthood, passion is complemented by composure, evolving its nature into one that secretly lends a helping hand and departs without expecting anything in return, earning the warm embrace of sapient races.
The massive 'Thunderark' is also usually gentle, but possesses power that is hard to stop once angered. Players can also glimpse everyday moments fitting for a Lightning-attribute Kibo, such as creating electric orbs while scratching between its horns against trees.

Heading toward the waterside, players will encounter Kibos that operate on water or live close to it. The Water-attribute 'Little Beaver' is a Kibo with a gift for gathering materials and crafting items, acting as a 'master of modification' who is dedicated to studying architecture and fire prevention. With steady care, it can grow into a Beaver Master, making it a joy to watch this creature, which diligently gathered materials with its tiny body, mature into its full form.
In contrast, 'Mischief Shark' lives up to its name with a love for pranks. They often approach boats in packs and ram them for fun, to the point where official introductions mention throwing them food before the boat breaks as a solution. They also dislike being touched carelessly by strangers, so rather than blindly approaching just because it looks cute, it is better to understand its temperament first.
Waterside Kibos do not only move in the water. The Water-attribute Kibo 'Star Manta', found in Sprout Valley, is also adept at flying through the sky. However, because leaving the water causes its body to dry out and puts it in danger, it cannot stray far from the waterside. The decoration on its tail is also tied to its attacks and should not be touched carelessly; much like its unique appearance, this Kibo has many habits worth keeping in mind.

In the skies, there are Kibos that travel riding the wind. 'Fluffdin', covered in soft fluff all over its body, floats in groups alongside tiny 'Popodin' to enjoy the scenery. For 'Storm Hawk', which shines even brighter amidst fierce winds, flying is described as its purpose in life and very reason for being. Even while traversing the same sky, the creature that floats leisurely and the one flying against the wind offer quite different sights.
There are also cases where flying capabilities have influenced the daily lives of sapient races. 'Airball', found in the shopping district of Fleece Citadel, is a Kibo that kindly guides people looking for directions and serves as the mascot for 'Outback Travel Agency'. The travel agency's airship was also designed inspired by Airball.

Among these diverse Kibos, there are also powerful entities that the Starbounder must face as boss monsters. A prime example is 'Phantomfly', which appears in the mist-shrouded jungle of Sprout Valley. A Spirit-type Kibo of the Fantasy Beast species possessing Wind and Light attributes, its impressive figure spreads large wings to glide elegantly through the foliage.
However, players must not let down their guard captivated by its beautiful appearance. Phantomfly senses the weak will of other creatures, luring or controlling opponents through voices and illusions while absorbing special energy. While it enjoys approaching other creatures on its own, it remains wary of anyone who trespasses into its territory first. Though it has an endearing side—such as loving to groom itself—its elegant dance in the forest remains a threat that the Starbounder's party must be wary of.
Another Spirit-type Kibo of the Fantasy Beast species inhabiting the mist-shrouded jungle, 'Nightfall', is also a creature to be cautious of. Nightfall, which grows from Shadowbat through Shadowwing and Nightwing, torments its prey with the ability to conjure nightmares. However, because it is extremely vulnerable to sunlight and cannot see anything in bright places, it operates mainly at night.
