DAVE THE DIVER physical editions launch on PS5 and Switch 2

Physical editions of DAVE THE DIVER have launched on PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Nintendo Switch 2, with all of the game’s downloadable content (DLC) included.

Publisher Silver Lining Interactive released the editions on October 8th in partnership with MINTROCKET, the South Korean studio that developed the game. According to a release, they are available through Silver Lining Direct and from local retailers.

DAVE THE DIVER combines underwater exploration with running a restaurant. During the day, players control Dave as he dives into the Blue Hole, an area of ocean whose depths are always changing. At night, he serves what he has caught at Bancho Sushi. According to the release, the game has reached over 10m players worldwide, and the publisher has called it a ‘modern classic’.

The diving side of the game has roguelike elements, a term for games where a failed attempt costs the player what they have earned. Dave uses harpoons, weapons and upgrades to deal with the dangers below, and running out of oxygen means the catch from that dive is lost. Over 200 species of sea creature appear in the game, which pairs pixel art with 3D environments.

Prices and editions

Each platform has two physical versions to choose from. The Complete Edition costs £44.99 / €49.99, and the Collector’s Edition costs £69.99 / €79.99 on both PS5 and Switch 2.

Both versions include the base game on a disc for PS5 or a cartridge for Switch 2, plus a digital copy of the soundtrack. They also contain every DLC pack released for the game, made up of one expansion and four crossovers with other franchises.

What DLC is included?

In the Jungle is the biggest of the five packs. It adds a freshwater area to explore and a jungle village where players can make friends with the locals. A new grill restaurant and extra mini-games are also part of the expansion.

The crossovers bring in characters and themes from other series. The DREDGE pack is a fishing crossover described in the release as ‘haunting’, while the Godzilla DLC features the famous monster. Ichiban’s Holiday is a special event tied to the Like a Dragon series, and the GGST pack adds rhythm mini-games and cosmetics inspired by Guilty Gear Strive.

Collector’s Edition extras

The Collector’s Edition costs £25 (or €30) more than the Complete Edition. The extra money pays for a set of physical merchandise, which includes:

  • An acrylic standee of the Bancho Sushi restaurant
  • Four metal pins
  • An acrylic keyring
  • A dolphin pendant necklace
  • Two Marinca cards
  • A poster
  • Four postcards

The game and DLC are identical across both versions, so the merchandise is the only difference. Players who do not want the extras get the same content for less with the Complete Edition.

Silver Lining Interactive is a games publisher based in the North of England. It was founded by industry veterans who, according to the release, wanted publishing to ‘feel like a partnership’, and it puts out games in both physical and digital form.

MINTROCKET is a South Korean studio that develops games across a range of genres. The studio believes players are the ones who decide what makes a game great, and it has pointed to the worldwide success of DAVE THE DIVER as an example of that thinking.
