Red Bull has launched Red Bull Wings Cup, a global EA SPORTS FC 27 competition that will send its best players to a World Final in Miami in early 2027.
According to a release, registration opened on October 6th in nearly 80 countries. Red Bull, the energy drink company, is running the tournament in partnership with EA SPORTS, the sports label of publisher Electronic Arts, and PlayStation. The release described the competition as a chance for everyday players to represent their country on a global stage 'like never before'.
Anyone aged 18 or over can take part, as long as they currently live in one of the participating countries, and players of all skill levels are welcome. Local terms and conditions may apply.
How the two leagues work
Players begin by registering for one of two leagues, each using a different mode of EA SPORTS FC 27. Both are played on PlayStation 5 consoles:
- The University League, where currently enrolled university students play EA SPORTS FC 27 Rush against other students in on-campus qualifiers
- The Open League, where players compete online through PlayStation Tournaments using their own squad in EA SPORTS FC 27 Ultimate Team
Ultimate Team is the game's squad-building mode, in which players put together their own team of footballers. PlayStation Tournaments, meanwhile, is a feature that lets players enter organised competitions from their console.

The top players from each league will qualify for their National Finals. Eligible National Champions will then earn the right to represent their country at the World Final.
World Final in Miami
The World Final will be held at Nu Stadium, the home of Major League Soccer (MLS) club Inter Miami, in early 2027. No exact date has been announced yet.
According to the release, the event will combine competitive gameplay with 'real-life football moments', although it did not specify what these will include. Finalists will compete to become the inaugural Red Bull Wings Cup champion.
Limited-edition cans and in-game rewards
Red Bull will also release a limited-edition Red Bull Wings Cup can worldwide. Each can will give eligible consumers the chance to unlock EA SPORTS FC 27 in-game rewards, as well as compete for a trip to watch the World Final in Miami.

Registration is now open via the official Red Bull Wings Cup website. The site also has information on how to redeem rewards and enter the competition.
