
NC announced that its PC MMORPG 'AION 2' surpassed 400,000 peak concurrent players shortly after entering official global live service.
According to SteamDB, which tracks Steam user data, 'AION 2' recorded a peak concurrent player count of 397,905 on Steam on October 5 (UTC). This peak represents Steam players alone, excluding users on PURPLE. Compared to the early access peak on Steam of 171,530 reported by Inven on October 1, this is an increase of 226,375 players.
Official live service launched on Steam and NC's proprietary platform PURPLE on October 5 at 10:00 PM KST. Following a five-day advance access period granted to Founder's Pack purchasers starting September 30, the game transitioned to free-to-play. Steam and PURPLE users can play together on the same global servers.
NC stated that during the early access period, 'AION 2' maintained the #1 rank on Steam's global 'Top Sellers' revenue chart and reached #1 in 15 countries and regions. 'AION 2' also ranked #1 on Valve's weekly global top sellers chart for September 29–October 6. NC announced that as of October 6, the game also ranked #1 in Steam's 'New & Trending' and 'Top Free to Play' categories.
'AION 2' initially launched in South Korea and Taiwan in November 2025. The global version operates servers across four regions—North America, South America, Europe, and Asia (Japan)—and supports eight languages, including English, Japanese, French, German, and Spanish. Its main content features flight, aerial combat, and the conflict between the Elyos and Asmodians. NC also released a behind-the-scenes video on its official YouTube channel showcasing the development team's goals and creation process.
In the same SteamDB metrics, 'Throne and Liberty', an MMORPG developed by NC, recorded a peak concurrent player count of 336,300 on Steam on October 6, 2024. Comparing the Steam records of the two games, 'AION 2''s new peak is 61,605 higher.
