On August 13th, The River King’s Cup Europe Group Stage, MXM’s first community Tournament, took place. Just like the NA Group Stages, the tournament consisted of 8 teams going through single elimination for 4 matches in total.
Roam Is Real, Kronos Court, Hydra, and Over[Z]ealous became qualified to enter the next round.
The first match was between OverHeat and Roam Is Real from the Group A. Both teams banned Statesman and Vita without any unusual ban-pick. Roam Is Real began to lead the game after taking over the Titan Shard from Monolith. The team then advanced in the top lane with the Fallen Hero, and OverHeat’s tower got destroyed with 7h3Dog killed during the process.
After taking down two towers, Roam Is Real marched in the mid lane with their Titans. Linah’s Vonak and Ichiro’s Sizuka started hunting down Rozark in the meantime, and succeeded in killing the monster only 5 minutes into the game. This resulted in a big point difference, forcing OverHeat to defend the base from the marching Titans.
Having the advantage, Roam Is Real did not miss this opportunity and continued to benefit from the point gap. OverHeat’s towers were eventually no more, and the game ended after Linah invaded the enemy base on his own and destroyed the core by summoning the Titan Incarnate. It was merely 10 minute into the game.
The second match was between WARMONGER and Kronos Court from the Group B. The ban list was the same with the last ban-pick; Statesman and Vita. Aside from linkens from WARMONGER picking Ignuma, the pick process was quite ordinary. Though both teams benefited from jungle objectives without any harassment, WARMONGER started to apply pressure in the top lane.
The continuous skirmishes resulted in Kronos Court’s tower in the top lane being destroyed first. Kronos Court also attempted to pressure both lanes by sending Deadmanoob’s Vonak to bot and Sinner’s Bumaro to the top. The first towers in both lanes were destroyed as a result, and they kept earning points by actively acquiring objectives from a number of activities such as killing King Tanian.
WARMONGER’s Linkens got disconnected and made matters even worse. While facing each other in the mid lane, both teams used all of their saved Titan Shards and summoned the Titan Incarnate, which resulted in a fierce teamfight. However, due to their lack of Linkens, WARMONGER lost the teamfight and made an even bigger gap.
Linkens did not return after a while, and WARMONGER had to abandon the game. As a result, Kronos Court claimed victory after 15 minutes.
The third match was between WeRnoName and Hydra from the Group C. Hydra banned Vita and Statesman just like the other teams in the previous matches, but WeRnoName banned MBA-07 instead of Vita. However, Hydra did not pick Vita, and both teams picked Ignuma.
Both teams actively engaged in a couple of skirmishes, and with more points from objectives, Hydra demolished WeRnoName’s first tower. Hydra then attempted to slay King Tanian, but WeRnoName predicted their move and managed to steal Tanian from Hydra. This seemed to give the lead to WeRnoName, but Hydra performed an impeccable teamfight in front of Monolith and vanquished the whole team, closing the point gap.
Hydra then hunted down Rozark with three players while the other two defended the entrance to block the enemy team. Although WeRnoName detected Hydra’s movement, Shiro, who was defending the entrance, delivered a formidable performance that prevented WeRnoName from entering, and they were forced to watch Hydra slay Rozark.
The next teamfight was done around King Tanian once again. Both teams engaged around King Tanian, and the monster’s attack hit WeRnoName’s players. Two of them died from the attack, giving Hydra victory in that fight and widening the gap. Hydra then acted prudently and pressured WeRnoName by claiming objectives, and the final attack with the Titan and Fallen Hero sealed Hydra’s victory.
The last match of the tournament was between Over[Z]ealous and NoKickNoWin from Group D. While Over[Z]ealous banned Vita and Statesman, NoKickNoWin banned Vita and Tulam. Over[Z]ealous took an advantage of this and picked Statesman.
When NoKickNoWin pressured the top and bot lanes, Over[Z]ealous claimed Monolith instead. Both teams engaged in the first teamfight around the mid tower with the first Titans. Over[Z]ealous’s Titan was summoned first, which caused the battle to be in the range of NoKickNoWin’s tower attacks, and the Titan fell first as a result. NoKickNoWin did not miss this chance and claimed a kill while pushing the enemy back. While their Titan was pressuring mid tower, they easily took King Tanian.
In order to turn the tide, Over[Z]ealous chose to kill Rozark secretly. NoKickNoWin detected their movement and swooped in on Over[Z]ealous. Matex summoned the Titan Incarnate and succeeded in killing Rozark first. Matex’s Titan even vanquished the NoKickNoWin’s players in the chamber which resulted in a turnaround.
With the advantage from the fight for Rozark, Over[Z]ealous demolished a number of NoKickNoWin’s towers and took the lead. However, NoKickNoWin attempted to fight back by winning multiple teamfights afterward. As soon as their points were close to Over[Z]ealous’s, the team gambled to hunt down Rozark secretly once again. NoKickNoWin tried to charge in the chamber, but Over[Z]ealous’s ImNotKasNoAddPls summoned the Titan Incarnate and succeeded in blocking the enemy team.
In the end, the second Rozark was taken by Over[Z]ealous again, widening the point gap even more. The team then destroyed the core of NoKickNoWin with Titans and claimed victory.
