Netmarble has launched the Version 1.4 update for MONGIL: STAR DIVE, adding the new character Isabella, a new region and the next chapter of the game's main story.

According to a release, the update went live on September 30th. Alongside Episode 7 of the main quest, titled Ashen Cradle Lullaby, it brings a new game mode and a round of Half Anniversary events.

MONGIL: STAR DIVE is a monster-taming action role-playing game (RPG). Netmarble, a South Korean game developer and publisher, has described it as a 'long-awaited reimagining' of Monster Taming, a mobile collectible RPG first released in 2013.

What's new in Version 1.4

The new region is home to 29 new Monsterlings, the game's collectible monsters. Players can also craft 15 new Link Chains there. The update also introduces a new Legendary Conquest boss called Sorin. In the game's lore, she is a giant serpent who was corrupted by the Void while seeking to become a dragon. According to the release, her range of combat patterns will offer players an 'all-new challenge'.

Isabella joins the roster as a five-star Ice character. She is a gifted engineer who once used her skills for the common good, but now spends her time on her own research. Players can learn more about her past in the Wanderers Beyond Borders event, where currency earned from event dungeons and missions can be exchanged for rewards such as Summon Tickets.

Elsewhere, the new Elemental Sanctum mode lets players fight bosses and upgrade new passive skills to make their characters stronger. There is also Mobile AR Photo Mode, which uses augmented reality (AR) to let players place characters in real-world settings and photograph them. On top of this, the maximum Adventure Level has been raised from 60 to 70.

Half Anniversary events

The update arrives as the game marks its Half Anniversary, six months on from launch.

Two Isabella-themed events, Special Missions with Isabella and Isabella's 7-Day Gifts, hand out Summon Tickets, growth materials and other rewards. The Half Anniversary celebrations add a special login pass, as well as special missions that reward players with a commemorative Our First Anniversary profile frame and icon.

Mina and Narae are also returning in rerun summons, along with their Artifacts.

About MONGIL: STAR DIVE

The game is built on Unreal Engine 5, and its real-time combat is based on a three-character tag system, which lets players switch between characters during battles. Its Monsterling Collection system allows players to capture, collect and combine monsters, which Netmarble claims adds 'strategic depth' to the gameplay.

Founded in Korea in 2000, Netmarble is the parent company of Kabam, SpinX Games and Jam City. It is also a major shareholder in HYBE and NCSOFT. Its other titles include Solo Leveling:ARISE, Seven Knights Re:BIRTH, RAVEN2, MARVEL Future Fight and The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross.
