May we see esports in the Olympics.

According to ESPN’s reporting, Tony Estanguet, co-president of the Paris Olympic bid committee is open to include esports as an official title of 2024 Olympics. In the interview with The Associated Press, Estanguet is conversing with esports representatives about the prospect of esports in the Olympics.

"We have to look at it because we can't say, 'It's not us. It's not about Olympics,'" Estanguet explained how legitimizing esports as a sport is paramount in connecting with the new generation of fans. He continued by saying, "The youth, yes they are interested in esport and this kind of thing. Let's look at it. Let's meet them. Let's try if we can find some bridges”

"I don't want to say 'no' from the beginning. I think it's interesting to interact with the IOC, with them, the esports family, to better understand what the process is and why it is such a success," he added.

The 2024 program will start to take form in 2019 and will be finalized by IOC after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Meanwhile, Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) in partnership with Alisports decided to include esports in the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games last April. On the upcoming September, esports will be featured as a demonstration sport in the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG), in Ashgabat, the capital city of Turkmenistan as well as the 2017 Jakarta Palembang Asian Games in Indonesia.

The four esports titles selected for the 2017 AIMAG are StarCraft 2, Hearthstone, Dota 2, and The King of Fighters.
