ReLU Games' MIMESIS has won the Best Multiplayer Horror award at the Japan Horror Game Awards. Developed by ReLU Games, a creative studio under KRAFTON, MIMESIS was the only Korean game among all the award winners.
The Japan Horror Game Awards is an award ceremony that selects titles with exceptional horror presentation and play experiences among games released over the past year. Reflecting votes from users, creators, and media, the judging panel also features developers who worked on major game series such as Silent Hill and SIREN. The ceremony comprises nine categories, including the Grand Prize, Best Horror Narrative & Direction, and Best Multiplayer Horror.
The Best Multiplayer Horror award is presented to titles that capture the terror arising when multiple players play together. MIMESIS adds tension to cooperative play through AI-driven NPC monsters that mimic players' appearances, behaviors, and voices, blending seamlessly among teammates. By replicating both visual appearance and communication, the AI forces players to doubt their teammates' true identities even as they work together.
MIMESIS previously became the first Korean game to win the Excellence Award in the Game Design category at the CEDEC Awards 2026. Following its Steam Early Access launch on October 27, 2025, the game reached 1 million global cumulative copies sold within 50 days, and surpassed 2 million copies after its first major update in June. Its Steam user review rating remains "Very Positive."
ReLU Games CEO Minjung Kim stated, "This award is deeply meaningful because it validates that our attempt to create unique gameplay by integrating AI into the core structure of the game has been recognized even at the genre level." She added, "We will continue to uncover and showcase new possibilities for fun and unique experiences, taking on bold challenges powered by our technology and design capability."
MIMESIS is a four-player cooperative horror game that utilizes AI technology. Set in a world where a mysterious rain has mutated humans into beings that duplicate the voices and behaviors of others, players must gather resources and keep a tram running to survive.
