
The South Korean national team defeated Saudi Arabia 4-1 in the finals of the 2026 Overwatch World Cup to take the title. It marks their return to the top after eight years and their fourth overall championship.
South Korea swept the United States 3-0 in the quarterfinals and edged out France 3-2 in a hard-fought semifinal series. They capped off their championship run by defeating Saudi Arabia in the finals. South Korea now holds five total Overwatch World Cup medals, the most of any participating nation.
Following the victory, Choi "MAX" Su-min shared his thoughts, saying, "It feels amazing to represent our country together and win." He added, "Saudi Arabia isn't all that."
Kim "Simple" Ji-sung expressed, "I felt a strong sense of duty to reclaim our position as Overwatch World Cup champions," adding, "Achieving that goal at last feels incredibly rewarding and meaningful." He also conveyed his gratitude to the fans who continuously supported them, to South Korea, and to the opposing teams who put up great matches.
Sung "CH0R0NG" Yu-min expressed his appreciation to those who supported the national team and to the fans. He said, "I think we were able to win like this because WDG, Nexon, and Crazy Raccoon provided so much support," adding, "Thank you so much to the fans who traveled a long way to be here."
