'World of Warcraft: Forever', a reboot of the original World of Warcraft, was unveiled today (13th) at BlizzCon 2026.
'World of Warcraft: Forever' is a fresh reinterpretation of original Azeroth. While it may remind players of the Classic series at first glance, its direction is distinct. Whereas Classic focused on preserving the flavor of the past while applying modern elements to graphics options—such as resolution and frame rate—and convenience features, 'World of Warcraft: Forever' focuses on expanding and revamping Azeroth itself.
In 'World of Warcraft: Forever', existing zones are expanded and revamped, while brand-new zones, dungeons, and raids are also added. On top of that, over 1,000 new quests are introduced. As it adds a wealth of new content while remaining rooted in original Azeroth, calling it a reboot is fitting. In fact, in the revealed trailer, scenes can be seen depicting Dalaran—which originally appeared later in 'Wrath of the Lich King'—being rebuilt at an earlier point in time.
These changes also extend to classes and gameplay. Gameplay across all specializations will be updated, Honor and professions will be revamped, and a new camping system will be added. Furthermore, new race and class combinations that were previously unavailable, such as Dwarf Shamans and Forsaken Paladins, will be introduced.
A new playable race, the Skyborne, will also be added. The Skyborne are an original neutral race exclusive to 'Forever' that did not exist in original 'World of Warcraft', hailing from the recently discovered Zephras Isle as an elven race. Players can choose the Skyborne to embark on new adventures in 'World of Warcraft: Forever'.
In addition, world visual effects updates and gameplay improvements will be implemented, allowing players to enjoy Azeroth in various ways ranging from PvP to activities like fishing.
'World of Warcraft: Forever' is scheduled to launch on November 5, 2026. The game can be pre-purchased via Battle.net, and Blizzard plans to present an evolving world through continuous updates while delivering a new 'World of Warcraft' experience where players can progress at their own pace.
