SOOP announced on September 10 that it received a Minister of Health and Welfare Commendation for its contributions to spreading a culture of respect for life and supporting suicide prevention efforts at the "2026 Suicide Prevention Day Commemoration Ceremony" held at The Westin Josun Seoul in Jung-gu, Seoul.
SOOP CEO Lee Min-won attended the ceremony and accepted the commendation from Minister of Health and Welfare Jung Eun-kyeong. The Suicide Prevention Day Commemoration Ceremony is an annual event hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Public-Private Council for Life-Respect Policies to raise awareness and interest in suicide prevention and promote a culture of respect for life.
SOOP has taken action against suicide-inciting content and harmful information on online platforms while continuing initiatives to raise awareness among streamers and users about the importance of suicide prevention and respecting life.
Since 2023, the platform has conducted suicide prevention and respect for life campaigns in partnership with the Korea Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and in 2024 signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to spread a culture of respect for life and prevent suicide. Since then, the two organizations have conducted campaigns and online seminars focused on respecting life.
SOOP carried out a respect for life culture campaign and seminar in the first half of this year, and launched its second-half campaign on September 1. This campaign focuses on raising awareness about the need for social interest and support to help children who have lost their parents recover their daily lives and pursue their dreams. In November, the platform plans to hold a seminar on the topic of respecting life.
SOOP plans to continue hosting respect for life activities in which streamers and users can participate.
