A first-person survival horror game set during the 1258 Fall of Baghdad, 'ALKIMYA: HOUSE OF WISDOM', has been officially revealed.
On August 27, Iksyr showcased gameplay footage of 'ALKIMYA: HOUSE OF WISDOM' for the first time during the gamescom 2026 Future Games Show (FGS). Set in Baghdad's Grand Library, the 'House of Wisdom', against a dark atmosphere, the video features enemies presumed to be the Mongol army.
Players take on the role of Yusuf, an alchemist who ventures into the burning House of Wisdom in search of 'Iksyr', the sole cure to save his terminally ill daughter. As Mongol invading forces swarm through the library, mysterious supernatural entities lurk beneath the building.
Combat revolves around using weapons found inside the House of Wisdom, which are special armaments imbued with alchemical power through cosmic materials. Players can also gather resources to craft chemical flasks with effects such as fire, blinding, or corrosion.
The environment is designed as a single interconnected structure consisting of locked passages, hidden shortcuts, and various mechanisms engineered by Golden Age scholars, with solving this spatial puzzle serving as the path to descend into the depths. Additionally, stalker-type enemies appear that cannot be defeated and can only be evaded, requiring players to utilize the environment to outmaneuver them.
'ALKIMYA: HOUSE OF WISDOM' features boss fights and brings its narrative—blending history and cosmic horror—to life through full Arabic and English voice acting alongside cinematic cutscenes. Built on Unreal Engine 5, both development and publishing are handled by Iksyr. It is set to launch on PC and PS5, with the exact release date yet to be announced.
