Wolcen Studio unveiled a new trailer for 'Wolcen 2' at the Gamescom 2026 Future Games Show (FGS) on August 27.
'Wolcen 2' is the sequel to 'Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem', set in a world driven to the brink of destruction following the events of the original game. A top-down dark fantasy hack-and-slash, the newly released video showcases combat utilizing both swords and firearms.
Players control a group of warlords freed from exile who are the illegitimate children of a shadow god. They become entangled in a prophecy that they can save the world, but at the cost of sacrifice. In their journey to save reality, the warlords—including characters from the previous game—face choices to accept or reject their respective fates, with support for both single-player and up to four-player co-op.
Characters develop without predefined classes; players unlock skills through weapons and combine modifiers, specializations, and passive trees to grow in their desired direction. Various combinations such as melee mages, spellblades, tank casters, and gunslingers can be attempted, and players pushed into a corner during combat can transform into a shadow form to turn the tide.
Skills, weapons, passives, and equipment are designed to synergize with one another. Players can craft gear themselves by gathering items and materials, while endgame content includes battlefields where multiple factions clash over territory and power, as well as the 'Tower of Wonders' that allows players to focus on specific rewards.
'Wolcen 2' is being developed with a focus on balance, performance, polish, and incorporating player feedback, aiming for a 2027 Early Access launch on PC. The full release is planned for PC and current-generation consoles, with story content, new activities, and cosmetic items scheduled to be added sequentially afterward.
