Global indie game publisher Devolver Digital has released a major free update for Reigns, the kingdom management simulation game developed by Nerial, celebrating its 10th anniversary along with the news of surpassing 4 million cumulative players.
First revealed to the public in 2016, Reigns introduced a unique monarch simulator where players rule a kingdom simply by swiping cards left and right on the screen. At a time when smartphone users were spending their days idly swiping through screens, the game struck a major chord by offering the experience of deciding the fate of a nation. Since then, the franchise has reached 4 million total players across multiple sequels such as Reigns: Three Kingdoms and Reigns: Beyond, as well as official spin-off titles set in the Game of Thrones and The Witcher universes.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of its flagship original title, developer Nerial added a massive amount of new content for free. A total of 190 new cards have been introduced through this update, alongside various elements including new objectives, novel ways to die, new characters, and hidden endings. Notably, an original storyline revolving around a new NPC, the "Town Witch," stands out. In a ironic twist of fate, players must survive for exactly 10 years in-game to see the powerful witch's prophecy come true.
This 10th anniversary update is available for free to everyone on PC and mobile devices. For players who have not yet experienced the title, Devolver Digital is also running a sale across the entire series. The franchise offers full Korean language support, and detailed information can be found on the official website and the official Korean X account DevolverKR.
