This title features four distinct protagonists, with the narrative path to victory changing based on the character chosen. Combat emphasizes the series' signature turn-based tactical battles, incorporating strategic elements like unit types and weapon affinities. Players can also turn the tide of battle using unique special skills tied to each protagonist.
The trailer provided a brief look at the backstories of the four protagonists—Kai, Theodora, Dietrich, and Leda—alongside gameplay footage. It also confirmed the return of Sothis, a character previously featured in 'Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
