A Pokémon encyclopedia covering the entire 30-year history of the franchise is on its way.
Overlap, Inc. announced on May 15 that it will release 'Pokémon Official National Pokédex 1996-2026,' a book featuring 1025 Pokémon, on Friday, August 7.
The book includes every one of the 1025 Pokémon that have appeared over the 30 years since the birth of the Pokémon series in 1996 through 2026. The publisher describes it as "the definitive edition." They emphasized that it is an official, comprehensive, and collectible guide perfect for both long-time fans and those just beginning their journey into the world of Pokémon.
In terms of specific content, the book provides basic information for each Pokémon—including type, classification, height, weight, abilities, hidden abilities, and Pokédex entries—based on the latest data as of the end of March 2026. It also includes the English names for all 1025 Pokémon, making it a useful resource for satisfying intellectual curiosity or interacting with international fans. Additionally, it covers key terminology from the Pokémon world, such as Mega Evolution, Dynamax, and regional forms.
The book is also designed for convenience and ease of use. It features a layout that allows readers to grasp evolution chains at a glance, and includes practical features such as a list organized by Pokédex number and a 50-character (Japanese syllabary) index for easy searching.
The publisher noted that the B5 format allows for Pokémon illustrations to be displayed at a highly visible size, making the book a satisfying experience just to browse through the artwork on each page.
The book is in B5 format, spans 448 full-color pages, and is priced at ¥2500 (excluding tax; approximately ₩26k). It will be released on Friday, August 7, 2026.
