Smilegate Hope Studio (Chair Kwon Hyuk-bin) announced on the 11th that it has successfully completed a project to improve the care and growth environment of 'Smile House No. 6,' a facility for children in underserved communities, in partnership with the spatial design firm Jongkim Design Studio.

Smile House is Smilegate's social contribution platform that provides integrated support for the protection, treatment, and self-reliance of children and adolescents from vulnerable backgrounds. This project was launched to renovate the aging facilities of Smile House No. 6, located in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do. The facility had been facing issues with electrical fire hazards, water leaks, poor ventilation, and a lack of private space for the children.

Jongkim Design Studio oversaw the entire project, including design and planning, to create new private and communal spaces for the children. The team resolved electrical safety issues through rewiring and improved lighting and ventilation by installing custom-made furniture.

The project was made more meaningful by the participation of 22 partner companies that share the vision of 'JKDN,' the social contribution brand of Jongkim Design Studio. 'Design Madonna' managed the construction, 'You & Us' handled the kitchen installation, and companies including 'Dosi Sangsa,' 'Darb,' 'Parts,' 'Woodin,' 'Nexus,' 'Duomo,' 'Atempo Korea,' and 'Miyu Design' provided support in the form of wallpaper, lighting, sanitary fixtures, and furniture.

In conjunction with the renovation, Hope Studio ran a donation campaign titled 'Building a Space of Hope Together' from the 14th of last month through today. All proceeds raised will be used to purchase learning supplies and home appliances for the children at Smile House.

Kim Jong-wan, head of Jongkim Design Studio, stated that he would continue to use his professional expertise to improve living environments for those in need. Kwon Yeon-ju, Director of Hope Studio, expressed her gratitude to the partners for their dedication to the children and pledged to continue developing the studio into a platform that connects diverse resources and talents.

Meanwhile, Hope Studio is leading efforts to spread hope to future generations and foster a fun culture of giving through its gamification-based platform, in collaboration with various partners from the gaming and IP industries.
