Smilegate announced on Thursday the 30th that it has opened 'Dolcori Forest,' an immersive theme park located in Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo, Jeju Island.
Dolcori Forest is a lifestyle content park featuring exhibitions, garden walks, art appreciation, and dining experiences. Built on the 18,000-pyeong site of the former 'Soingook Theme Park,' the space is designed around the concept of a village created by cats that have traveled the world.
The core experience centers on 'comfort and lingering with cats.' By using Jeju's nature and cats as mediums for solace and rest, the park aims to provide emotional peace to modern individuals.
The name 'Dolcori Forest' combines the Jeju folklore term 'Dolconang' (stone cat) with the suffix '-ri,' commonly used for village names. Based on the traditional motif of a guardian deity of Jeju, it was designed to feel like a real, living village where Jeju's nature, folklore, and works by trendy contemporary artists blend together.
The space is designed around a flow of 'walking, discovering, and lingering.' In the indoor exhibition hall, 'Dolcori Village,' visitors follow the traces of five cats—Dol-dol, Coco, Momo, Chichi, and Sasha—to rediscover the happiness they have always carried within.
In the connecting outdoor 'Dolcori Garden,' visitors can enjoy cat-themed works by domestic and international artists while taking a stroll. The garden soothes both the sense of smell and sight through Jeju landscaping infused with the scent of herbs and an exotic atmosphere.
The park also features charming, cat-eye-level attractions such as miniature trains, RC boats, and a wooden ball playground. A picnic zone and a small library have been set up under a 30-year-old tree.
In line with the concept of cat friends quietly taking over the former miniature park, the company plans to steadily increase the number of outdoor sculptures and cat characters.
Lee Jung-jun, CEO of Smilegate Cat Park Museum, said, "It is now time to bring the creative imagination we have built through games into a physical space," adding, "We will extend our digital experiences into the offline world to provide a unique and new form of entertainment."
