'Disco Elysium: The Final Cut,' the definitive version of the mystery adventure RPG known for its vast text and deep narrative, will be released on the 30th.
Developer ZA/UM announced the release date today (the 18th) via social media and its Steam page, while also detailing new features and its policy for existing owners. Upon the release of The Final Cut, the original version of Disco Elysium will be upgraded to The Final Cut, and existing owners will receive this upgrade for free.
The Final Cut will feature a deeper story with the addition of new political vision quests, outfits, areas, and cinematics. The developer also noted that additional voice acting has been recorded to bring the world of Disco Elysium to life. Voice acting will remain in English only, while Korean and eight other languages will be supported via subtitles.
Furthermore, the game has been updated for full compatibility with modern controllers, including features such as haptic feedback when a thought process in the Thought Cabinet is completed. The developer added that the game has received a comprehensive upgrade, including newly created animations for more natural presentation and a remastered soundtrack that now supports surround sound.
Released in 2019, Disco Elysium is a mystery adventure RPG that earned critical acclaim for its deep story and expansive systems. It was well-received by both critics and players, holding a Metacritic score of 91 and a user score of 8.4 for the PC version. A Korean language patch has been available since August 2020, and the upgraded 'Final Cut' version will launch on PC, PS4, and PS5 on the 30th.
