The 2026 LCK Cup Finals will take place in Hong Kong this weekend, marking the first time the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) has staged an official match overseas.

Riot Games, the developer and organiser of the LCK — South Korea’s top-tier professional League of Legends (LoL) competition — confirmed that the final qualifier will be held on February 28th, followed by the grand final on March 1st at Kai Tak Arena in Hong Kong.

With Gen.G already securing a place in the final, BNK FEARX and Dplus KIA will face off in a best-of-five series to decide who joins them — and who guarantees qualification to LoL Esports’ First Stand Tournament (FST).

BNK FEARX and Dplus KIA to clash for finals berth

The upcoming final qualifier carries significant weight. Not only will the winner advance to the LCK Cup grand final, but it will also secure at least a runner-up finish and a spot at the First Stand Tournament, an international event featuring regional champions and representatives.

Both BNK FEARX and Dplus KIA finished the group stage of the 2026 LCK Cup with identical three and two records, placing among the top teams in the Elder Group.

BNK FEARX advanced to the playoffs as the Elder Group’s first seed and booked its ticket to Hong Kong with a three to one victory over T1. Although the team later fell to Gen.G in the winners’ bracket Round three, it rebounded with disciplined macro play and a clear win condition built around bottom-lane pressure.

Its strategy has often revolved around ADC Nam ‘Diable’ Dae-geun, with early-game advantages translating into map control. If BNK FEARX can establish momentum in the opening games, it could put Dplus KIA under sustained pressure.

Dplus KIA, meanwhile, progressed through the Play-In and Playoffs stages, defeating DRX and DN Supers before battling through the lower bracket. The team notably reverse-swept T1 from a zero to two deficit in a decisive series to claim its place in Hong Kong.

Having played the most matches among the three teams travelling to Hong Kong, Dplus KIA may face questions around fatigue. However, its recent performances have demonstrated resilience in extended series — a factor that could prove decisive in another best-of-five.

Gen.G enter final as title favourites

Gen.G were widely considered one of the favourites ahead of the LCK Cup and have so far justified that status. The team completed the group stage undefeated before maintaining its form in the playoffs to secure an early berth in the grand final.

In head-to-head matchups, Gen.G have held a strong record against both potential opponents. Across the group stage and playoffs, it has recorded five to one set scores against each side, including two to zero wins in the group stage and three to one victories in the playoffs.

The team has also already qualified for the First Stand Tournament.

Despite those results, both BNK FEARX and Dplus KIA have shown the ability to respond after losses to Gen.G. Each side eliminated T1 in the lower bracket following defeats earlier in the playoffs, keeping their championship hopes alive.

With only one series separating the final qualifier winner from the title, the LCK Cup champion will be decided by which team can sustain its performance across the weekend.

LCK stages first overseas roadshow

The Hong Kong finals represent a milestone for the LCK. Since its official launch in 2012, all matches have been played in South Korea. This weekend marks the league’s first international roadshow.

The event at Kai Tak Arena will feature on-site fan activations, including the LCK Shop, team booths and sponsor experiences.

For fans in South Korea, a viewing party will take place at Chzzk LoL Park, allowing domestic audiences to watch the final qualifier and grand final together.

Both matches are scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM KST (4:00 PM local time in Hong Kong) and will be broadcast via online platforms, including Chzzk and SOOP.
