Riot Games Confirms Riftbound French Release for 2026 in Phased Global Rollout

Riot Games and UVS Games announced Wednesday that Riftbound, the League of Legends trading card game, will add French as an officially supported language in 2026. The rollout will begin with a phased approach, starting with the game’s first set, Riftbound: Origins, expected to launch in French around midyear.

The addition marks the game’s third supported language alongside English and Simplified Chinese, expanding Riftbound’s accessibility as its global player base continues to grow. French-speaking fans have been one of the most active groups requesting localized support since the game’s announcement, according to Riot.

Dave Guskin, Game Director at Riot Games, said the localization effort aligns with the studio’s long-term goals of bringing the physical TCG to more regions. “From the inception of Riftbound, we’ve been pursuing ways to get Riftbound into the hands of passionate TCG players and League of Legends fans around the world,” Guskin said. “We’re excited to be able to offer Riftbound in French as we’ve seen such a positive response from French-speaking players who are excited to dive into the game in their native language. We’ll continue to explore ways to expand the global access of Riftbound to players through additional regional expansions and localizations next year.”

Riot and UVS confirmed that Origins will be the first product translated into French, followed by Spiritforged, the game’s second set. Additional sets will release in waves until full global parity is achieved across all supported languages. More details on French product availability and rollout timing will be shared early next year.

What’s Next for Riftbound

The French edition marks a significant step in Riot and UVS’s broader international strategy for the physical TCG. The companies indicated that more regional expansions and localization initiatives are already in development for 2026 and beyond.

Riftbound brings the champions and lore of Runeterra into a competitive tabletop format, blending accessible mechanics with deep deck-building and multiple play modes. The game is the newest addition to Riot’s lineup, which includes League of Legends, VALORANT, Teamfight Tactics, and Legends of Runeterra.
