Riot Kicks Off TFT Set 16 With New Events, Early Access, and Strategy Guides

Riot Games is gearing up for the launch of Teamfight Tactics’ next major update with a suite of strategy guides, community events and an early access period for players eager to test the new mechanics. The upcoming set, titled Myths & Legends, introduces more than 100 units, over 300 Augments, and a new “Unlock” progression system intended to expand team-building possibilities.

Beginning today, Nov. 19, players can try Set 16 on the Public Beta Environment (PBE). The full release is scheduled for Dec. 3, giving fans the chance to experiment with lineups from home, PC cafés, and other play environments. To help players get up to speed, Riot is publishing detailed videos and guides from well-known TFT creators, including Gururu and Jeongdongle, on its official event page. The content rollout begins at 3 p.m. today.

Players can also participate in the “Set 16 Strategy Event,” which runs through Dec. 23. By logging into LoLChessGG with a Riot ID and posting strategy tips to the site’s guide section, participants will automatically be entered for a chance to win several prizes. Rewards include 10 TFT Legendary Goods Packages, 10 Runeterra hoodies, 20 keycap sets, and 30 keycap keyrings. All selected participants will receive 300 Treasure Tokens.

Community competition will also expand beyond guides. Riot is launching a nationwide amateur tournament called Legends of Runeterra, giving new and returning players the chance to test their Set 16 strategies in live matches. Registration opens Friday, Nov. 21, through LevelUpGG, and the competition begins Dec. 6.

The publisher says more events and community initiatives will go live on Dec. 3 alongside the official release of Myths & Legends. Full details will be available on the Teamfight Tactics website.

Riot Games, founded in 2006, has continued to expand the Runeterra universe across multiple titles, including League of Legends, VALORANT, Legends of Runeterra, Wild Rift and the upcoming fighter 2XKO. The studio has also broadened its storytelling efforts, most notably with the animated series Arcane, which earned Emmy and Annie Awards following its debut in 2021.

As League of Legends marks its 15th anniversary, the company says it remains focused on long-term worldbuilding and evolving its game lineup while supporting global esports communities.
