League of Legends Worlds 2025: KT Rolster Becomes First Team to Reach Quarterfinals With Perfect Record

KT Rolster, the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) third seed, has stormed into the 2025 League of Legends World Championship quarterfinals with a flawless 3–0 record, becoming the first team to do so in this year’s Swiss Stage.

According to Riot Games, the developer and publisher of League of Legends, KT Rolster’s dominant run at the World Championship—held at the Beijing Smart Esports Center—marks one of the most surprising performances of the tournament so far. The team, often considered the weakest of the LCK representatives entering the event, defied expectations with clean execution and strong late-game decision-making.

Mid-Stage Recap of the 2025 LoL World Championship Swiss Stage

KT opened their Swiss campaign against Movistar KOI, the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) second seed. Despite falling behind early in kills, KT turned the series around with disciplined teamfights around Dragon and Baron, closing out the match with a confident victory. Their second match, against the Latin Continental Pro (LCP) region’s Team Secret Whales, followed a similar pattern: slow early game, explosive mid-game, and a decisive finish.

The pivotal third match came against Top Esports, China’s third seed. KT dominated 2–0, powered by rookie top laner Perfect Lee Seung-min’s Rumble and veteran AD carry Deft Seo Dae-gil’s Corki in Game 1. Game 2 saw jungler Cuzz Moon Woo-chan and mid laner Bdd Kwak Bo-sung dismantle Top Esports with an 18–7 kill lead. KT will face a 3–2 team in the quarterfinals once the Swiss Stage concludes.

Meanwhile, LCK’s other contenders, Gen.G and Hanwha Life Esports, each stand at 2–1. Gen.G dropped a match to Anyone’s Legend but rebounded with a dominant win over T1, finishing 23–3 in kills. Hanwha Life also recovered from an opening loss to Anyone’s Legend, defeating PSG Talon and 100 Thieves to stay in contention.

Defending champion T1 faces an uphill battle after starting 1–2, marking their worst Swiss Stage record since the format’s introduction. They must win two straight matches, beginning with North America’s 100 Thieves, to keep their title defense alive.

At the halfway point, KT Rolster’s perfect run stands as the highlight of Worlds 2025—proof that in League of Legends, experience, adaptability, and teamwork still define champions.
