G2 FC Returns to Kings League Germany for Second Season, Building on Groundbreaking Debut

Esports powerhouse G2 has confirmed the return of its football team, G2 FC, to Kings League Germany for a second season. The team, which debuted last year with a strong third-place finish and a berth in the Kings League World Cup, officially kicked off its new campaign on Oct. 12 in Cologne. According to Esports Charts, G2 FC was the second most-watched team in Germany during its first season, cementing its growing appeal among fans.

Kings League Germany’s second season began with a launch event at MMC Studios Cologne, unveiling team rosters and kits. Founded in 2022 by former FC Barcelona and Spanish national team player Gerard Piqué, the global seven-a-side Kings League has expanded to multiple countries, including Spain and Italy. The German league features two groups of four teams competing through November, with the Final Four scheduled for Nov. 15. The winner will advance to the European Final in Berlin on Nov. 22 to face the top teams from other leagues.

Players Tarik Hadziavdic, Kevin Moreira, Ahmed Omeirat, and Cihan Ucar return for another season, joined by new talents discovered through recent trials in Berlin. Now celebrating its 10-year anniversary, G2 continues to bridge traditional sports and esports, supported by major partners including Mastercard, Red Bull, and Ralph Lauren. The organisation’s popularity in Germany remains unmatched, with 46.33% of fans naming G2 as their favorite team, according to Esports Bund Deutschland.

G2 CEO Alban Dechelotte said the team’s continued participation reinforces the company’s vision to merge competition, creativity, and digital innovation. “Our debut season in Kings League Germany demonstrated the potential of combining esports and traditional sports,” Dechelotte said. “For Season 2, we’re focused on connecting with fans in new ways and pushing the boundaries of sports entertainment.”

With new leadership, returning stars, and an expanding fanbase, G2 FC’s second season in Kings League Germany promises to be its most dynamic chapter yet.
