BLAST Brings First-Ever Dota Slam Arena Event to Chengdu in December

BLAST will stage its first arena event in mainland China later this year, with the BLAST Dota Slam Chengdu confirmed for Dec. 5–7 at the Wuliangye Chengdu Performing Arts Centre. The tournament will feature some of the world’s top Dota 2 teams competing for a $1 million prize pool.

The event will be delivered in partnership with the Chengdu Broadcasting Film and Television Group as part of a newly announced three-year agreement. It will be broadcast live in more than 50 territories and in over 30 languages, highlighting Chengdu’s growing role in the global esports market.

BLAST officials said the deal reflects both the city’s ambitions to become a hub for international entertainment and the organization’s strategy to expand in one of the fastest-growing esports regions.

The Wuliangye Chengdu Performing Arts Centre, a 12,000-seat multipurpose venue, will serve as the stage for the tournament. The venue was designed for large-scale concerts and live entertainment, and organizers say its facilities make it well-suited for esports.

James Woollard, BLAST’s director of market development, described Chengdu as “a city with rich culture, cutting-edge infrastructure, and a growing reputation for gaming and esports.” Zhou Wenwen, general manager of Chengdu Broadcasting Film and Television Group, said the partnership will help “showcase Chengdu as an international cultural, sports and entertainment destination.”

Teams already confirmed for the competition include Tundra, Heroic, Team Spirit, Team Falcons, Parivision and Team Liquid. Fans can register at BLAST.tv for updates on ticket sales and exclusive news.

The event marks another major esports milestone for Chengdu, which is also set to host the League of Legends World Championship Final in November. With previous BLAST events staged in cities such as London, Rio and Singapore, Chengdu now joins the global circuit of esports destinations.
