Konami Ignites Nostalgia with Today’s GRADIUS ORIGINS Collection Launch

Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. announced Thursday that the GRADIUS ORIGINS Collection is available today on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch™ and PC via Steam®. The launch brings together seven early side-scrolling shoot-’em-ups and 18 regional variants, evoking the arcade roots of the GRADIUS series for both longtime fans and newcomers.

The compilation includes landmark entries such as the North American “NEMESIS” adaptation of GRADIUS, the Bubble System revision from Japan, and multiple builds of GRADIUS II previously exclusive to Japanese arcades. Also featured are two versions of GRADIUS III, the original SALAMANDER and LIFE FORCE, and the Japan-only SALAMANDER 2, all updated with modern conveniences.

GRADIUS ORIGINS Collection Launches Today

Among its notable additions, the collection debuts SALAMANDER III—the first new game in the franchise in over a decade—and unlocks a version of GRADIUS II never before released outside Japan. Across all platforms, players can take advantage of quick-save/quick-load, a rewind function, online leaderboards, plus easy, invincibility and training modes. A visual gallery and sound gallery preserve original pixel art and chiptune soundtracks, while “online competitive leaderboards” let rivals compare scores worldwide.

Release times vary by region and storefront; fans can watch the launch trailer on Konami’s official YouTube channel. For further details, including the full lineup of games and regional versions—GRADIUS JP, Bubble System, NEMESIS NA/EU and NA Proto; GRADIUS II Gofer no Yabō (Early, Mid, Late) and VULCAN VENTURE NA; GRADIUS III Densetsu kara Shinwa e (JP Old, JP New, AM Show) and Asian; plus SALAMANDER JP/LIFE FORCE NA, LIFE FORCE JP, SALAMANDER 2 JP and new SALAMANDER III—visit the GRADIUS ORIGINS website.
