Kodansha Game Creator’s Lab has revealed plans to launch BOKURA: planet, the highly anticipated sequel to the two-player game BOKURA, in early 2025. This new installment continues the puzzle adventure genre, requiring two players on separate devices to collaborate and communicate to solve intricate puzzles.
BOKURA: planet introduces a fresh narrative set in a new environment, along with additional actions and puzzles. Players are encouraged to wishlist the game on Steam to receive updates as development progresses.
In BOKURA: planet, players must describe their perspectives to each other to solve puzzles together. A new "push" action adds complexity, allowing players to send each other flying, which introduces potential confrontations alongside cooperation. This dynamic requires careful navigation, as players may inadvertently or deliberately push each other off cliffs, heightening the challenge.
Set in a post-apocalyptic world where Earth has been destroyed, survivors rebuild from the Stone Age and eventually develop space travel capabilities. To explore distant planets, death row inmates are sent on a perilous journey. When the research ship malfunctions, two crew members must make an emergency escape and land on an unknown red planet. Both have personal reasons for wanting to return to Earth, setting the stage for a gripping narrative about survival and cooperation.
Tokoronyori, the indie game developer behind BOKURA and Planet of the Lonely, is known for creating unique and mysterious game worlds. BOKURA, released in February 2023 as part of Kodansha Game Creators’ Lab Vol. 1, has sold over 600,000 copies and gained significant attention from streamers and VTubers globally.
Tokoronyori shared insights on the development of BOKURA: planet, explaining that it stems from initial ideas conceived during the planning stages of BOKURA. While the original game struck a balance among various concepts, BOKURA: planet explores alternate ideas that were previously set aside. The creator expresses confidence in this direction and believes it has resulted in a remarkable game.
To celebrate the announcement, a 50% discount on BOKURA will be available on Steam and Nintendo Switch from Tuesday, August 6 to Sunday, August 18, 2024.
