LOS ANGELES, Calif. (November 10, 2022) - Today, FlyQuest, the esports organization and North American League Championship Series (LCS) franchisee, is excited to announce that Chris “PapaSmithy” Smith will be appointed President and Chief Gaming Officer.
PapaSmithy is a veteran of the esports industry, beginning his career as a broadcast commentator for OGN and Riot Games, casting the League of Legends World Championship in 2017, 2018, and 2019. He most recently served as General Manager for 100 Thieves’ LCS team, leading them to three LCS Championship Finals and winning the 2021 Summer Split title. During PapaSmithy’s tenure with the organization, 100 Thieves appeared in two League of Legends World Championships.
“Chris’ reputation and track record in the gaming, esports, and League of Legends communities speaks for itself. We are excited for him to join FlyQuest, and to help lead the organization into its next chapter,” said Michael Viola, FlyQuest owner. “Chris will play a key role in team and player development, as well as engaging with FlyQuest fans and the LCS community in new and unique ways.”
With a focus on strong competitive play and team development across all titles, PapaSmithy is looking forward to growing FlyQuest into one of the top esports organizations in North America. He will assist in FlyQuest’s overall business strategy, with a particular focus on competitive success and gaming, including new content opportunities, activations, and fan engagement.
