Teams from secondary leagues all around Asia will be representing their region in an upcoming international tournament.
On the 24th, Riot Games announced “Asia Star Challengers Invitational [ASCI]”, an international tournament that will invite top Challengers teams from various parts of Asia.
Teams from LCK CL [Korea], LDL [China], LJL.A [Japan], PCS Academy [SEA], VCS.B [Vietnam] will be facing off in this invitational, from Sep 12 to 25. It will be a 16-team tournament, with group stages being a Bo1 double round robin. Quarterfinals and onwards will be held in an elimination-style, Bo5 format.
Although this tournament is limited to Asian teams, players and industry insiders have reacted positively to this tournament, as this tournament is the first of its kind where secondary league teams will be competing against those from other regions.
