Former Natus Vincere in-game leader Kirill "Boombl4" Mikhailov has confirmed he has divorced his wife just over six months after proposing to her on the live broadcast at the Stockholm Major. The love story, which saw the Russian ask Lika "LiQueen" Mikhailova to marry him in the wake of Na’Vi’s win in Sweden, had captivated the Counter-Strike crowd, but looks to have come to a sad and premature end.
The news broke across various social media sites, including Telegram, VK and Twitter, with confirmation that the couple have no shared assets, and the divorce should be relatively quick. Unfortunately for the former Na’Vi man, who had the world at his feet a few short months ago, the fallout has been ugly, and the impact on his career decidedly negative.
With the news that the divorce would go ahead being made public, his ex-wife took to social media with the intention of damaging his reputation as much as possible. Unconfirmed rumors about drug use have been spreading online, along with video appearing to show the same. Some accounts also claim LiQueen has leaked nude photos, or ‘revenge porn’ as it is known in some jurisdictions.
Boombl4 has already tweeted that he intends to take legal action regarding circulating videos and images, presumably through the Russian court. There is apparently no current legislation related to revenge porn in Russia, but defamation can be tried as a felony and punished with a large financial penalty or “forced correctional labor”.
From nowhere to Major champ in four years
Boombl4’s rise from relative obscurity to the top of the CSGO world took place in just four years, with his first pro team contract coming in 2017 as part of Elements Pro Gaming. He went on to represent Quantum Bellator Fire, where he got his first taste of the big time, before moving on to Winstrike and then Na’Vi, which is the team he led to a major title in the latter half of 2021.
What seemed like a fairytale ending with the major win was only enhanced with the on-stage proposal, which obviously got a positive response from Boombl4’s then-girlfriend, but things have soured. At one point in her online tirade LiQueen accused Boombl4 of being “abusive”, as well as bizarrely calling him a “fat lesbian who loves to suck d***s”, according to sources.
With Boombl4 already having left Na’Vi, in a situation that was made far more complex by the ongoing Russian aggression toward Ukraine, it remains to be seen what happens next for the man who lifted the major trophy in Stockholm just a few months ago. Fans united in their sympathy for the player, hoping he can put this behind him and move forward in his CS career, and maybe even rejoin Na’Vi one day.
